01 Information We Collect
- Account info — username, email or phone number, profile picture, bio
- Date of birth — collected once at signup to verify you meet our minimum age; kept private, never shown on your profile, and never shared
- Content you upload — videos, thumbnails, and comments. Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted: we store only ciphertext and cannot read their content
- Usage data — videos watched, likes, shares, follows, search history
- Device & connection info — device model, OS version, app version, IP address, and a device identifier we use for security and abuse prevention (for example, detecting bots and repeat policy evasion)
- Reports & support — reports you submit about content or users, and messages you send our support and privacy teams
We do not collect your precise location, we show no ads, and the app contains no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
02 How We Use Your Information
- Provide and improve the Flixs platform
- Personalize your video feed and recommendations — this runs on your device, and you can turn it off in Algorithm Controls
- Send notifications (only if enabled)
- Screen uploads for policy violations (automated screening, with human review of reports)
- Verify age and comply with legal obligations, including content-removal requests and legally required reports
- Detect and prevent spam, bots, fraud, and other abuse
03 Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We share data only:
- With service providers who operate the platform: Google Firebase (authentication, database, video storage) and Expo (push notification delivery)
- With content-safety providers that screen uploads for policy violations (AI-generated content and abuse detection)
- With the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), when the law requires us to report child sexual abuse material
- When required by law, legal process, or a valid government request
- To protect the rights and safety of our users and the public
- As part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — if that ever happens, your data stays protected by this policy and we'll notify you of any change in ownership
04 Data Retention
- Your data is kept while your account is active, including video watch statistics used for creator analytics and abuse prevention
- When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, private account info, videos, watch history, and security records
- Exception: content removed for legal reasons (for example, material we must preserve for a mandatory report) is kept only as long as the law requires, then deleted
- If a signup is blocked because the person is under 13, we keep no personal information about them — only an anonymized device identifier that prevents the block from being bypassed
05 Your Rights & Controls
- Access, correct, or delete your account data at any time
- Download your data from Account Settings — the export includes your profile, email/phone, date of birth, videos, and watch history. End-to-end encrypted chats can't be included, because we can't decrypt them
- Deactivate or permanently delete your account
- Opt out of personalized recommendations via Algorithm Controls
- Block and report users, and control which notifications you receive
06 US State Privacy Rights
If you live in a state with a consumer privacy law (such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, or Virginia), you have the right to access, correct, delete, and receive a copy of your personal information. All of these are available to every Flixs user directly in the app (see Your Rights), or by emailing privacy@flixs.app — including through an authorized agent.
We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we do not use sensitive personal information for anything beyond providing the service. We will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our response.
07 Data Security
All direct messages are end-to-end encrypted. Your data is encrypted in transit and stored securely via Firebase, with access limited to what's needed to operate the service. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we use industry-standard practices to protect your information — if you believe your account or data has been compromised, contact privacy@flixs.app right away.
08 Children's Privacy
Flixs is not directed to children, and users under 13 are not permitted to create an account or use the service (COPPA). We verify age with a date-of-birth check at signup and do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
- If we learn an account belongs to a user under 13, we permanently delete the account and all information associated with it.
- If you believe a user is under 13, report their profile in the app ("Appears to be under 13") or email privacy@flixs.app — we will review and remove the account.
- Parents or guardians can contact privacy@flixs.app to ask about, or request deletion of, a child's information.
09 Where Your Data Is Processed
Flixs is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored on servers located in the United States. If you use Flixs from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and handled in the US as described in this policy.
10 Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Flixs evolves or the law changes. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we'll give you notice in the app or by other reasonable means before they take effect.
